The Little Birdhouse.

Helping Harvest Wildlife Products gain market share and brand awareness

Case study:

The Little Birdhouse.

Harvest Wildlife Products is a family-owned business with over 125 years’ experience producing wild bird food. They produce a variety of their own brands, plus they own-brand manufacture for leading UK retailers.

Harvest initially approached Sourcefour about their e-commerce website, but it quickly became apparent that we could support them with far more than just the website. Discussions quickly turned to new branding for some of their existing ranges, the production of 3D mock-ups for their e-commerce channels, photography, video, and even animation.

Launching a new retail brand.

One of the early projects was to launch their own retail brand under the name The Little Birdhouse. The purpose of the brand was to gain traction in the highly competitive retail space, that is dominated by the supermarkets and the discount sheds.

The purpose was to develop a product range with price points that would of interest to the retail buyers, yet would have significant shelf stand-out against the established players in the market.

We started with the design of a fresh new logo for the proposed brand that better suited its premium positioning.

Alongside the new logo, we also pitched some new packaging design ideas. With our MD, Rob’s experience of packaging design, we were able to suggest a number of very different, bespoke style options.

The chosen concept included fine-art watercolour illustrations of wild birds.

Rather than relying on stock imagery, the birds were painted by Alison Clynes, our Director of Marketing, who is also a talented artist. The paintings ensured the packaging was unique and shouted high quality.

The brand was launched at the Glee Birmingham Show (Garden, Leisure, Equipment Exhibition) in September 2025, where it got amazing feedback. It now stands alongside Harvest’s existing brands, The Wild Bird and Suet Shop.

Creating quality marketing assets.

As part of our support for Harvest’s in-house marketing team, we have been busy creating assets and content for promotional campaigns, events, and social media.

These include;

  • Photography and short videos (brand and product-specific)
  • Business stationery
  • Marketplace 3D product mock-ups
  • Animations
  • Brand guidelines.

New brands in the pipeline.

Now firmly established as Harvest’s creative partner, we are working with the team on exciting new brands and ranges. Watch this space!
“From our initial conversations, we were immediately impressed by Sourcefour’s genuine enthusiasm and commitment to understanding our brand and the wild bird industry.

They took the time to get to know our values, our target audience, and our specific needs, which made the entire process feel collaborative and insightful. What truly sets Sourcefour apart is their refreshing ideas and innovative approach to design.

They consistently brought forward creative concepts that were visually appealing, helping us to elevate our brand presence in a competitive market. Their ability to think outside the box has been invaluable. Beyond their exceptional design skills, the team at Sourcefour are a pleasure to work with.

Communication is always clear and efficient, and they have been flexible in accommodating our feedback and evolving needs throughout the project.”
